THE CAR OFFERED

The Studebaker Six of 1933 arrived at a pivotal moment for the South Bend automaker — a year of bold, aerodynamically influenced styling that anticipated the celebrated Airflow of 1934. The Series 56 combined accessible six-cylinder economy with coachwork of genuine distinction, its sweeping fenders and rakish belt line marking it as thoroughly modern for the period. Today, these cars are increasingly appreciated as harbingers of the American streamlining movement.

This example is presented in straw over brown fenders — a period-correct two-tone treatment of considerable charm — and trimmed in beige cord. The specification is appealing: dual sidemounts, a Cooper luggage trunk, oval Stabilite headlights, and a top-hinged windshield that invites open-air motoring. The body-color steel spoke wheels are a particularly handsome detail.

The paint, chrome, and interior are from a nicely finished by well aged restoration, with only minor paint microblisters noted in the finish. The gauges show well. The engine compartment and chassis present as fresh from long term static display.

A quality old restoration that begs to be brought back up to fresh mechanical condition and driven — it is an honest, usable, and highly attractive example of early 1930s American style, that once recommissioned will be ready to be enjoyed on tours and events.
