"Produced 123cc two-strokes, 248cc and 348cc ohv singles as well as 498cc vertical twins, which were not unlike the German Horex motorcycles." - Irwin Tragatsch – The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Motorcycles.
Taking its name from the company founders' initials - H (Hori), O (Ozeki, S (Shimizu) and K (Kimura) - Hosk began manufacturing motorcycles in 1953. At that time many Japanese companies' products were unashamed copies of British and European designs, and in choosing the German Horex for inspiration Hosk had opted for one of the very best. In 1959 the production rights to the Hosk were sold to Showa and then in 1960 to Yamaha, who used them to develop their own four-stroke models.
Apparently an overhead-camshaft design (of unknown capacity), this particular Hosk is presented in restored condition and currently displays a total of 6,000 kilometres on the odometer (the engine turns over). The accompanying key is for the headlamp.
Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning and/or restoration to a greater or lesser extent before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed. Prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's completeness, history, authenticity, originality and mechanical condition prior to bidding.
