Founded by Vincenzo Leone and active between 1948 and 1954, this obscure company built mopeds and 'clip-on' auxiliary engines for bicycle attachment. The Leone engine displaced 48cc and carried its single cylinder horizontally to facilitate mounting beneath the bicycle frame's bottom bracket. In 1952 Leone went on to develop a 75cc lightweight motorcycle.
This Leone clip-on engine is attached to a Sabazia gent's bicycle, the ensemble being presented in restored condition. Our vendor purchased the machine from well-known journalist and collector, Giovanni Perrone (see copy pro forma invoice on file).
Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning and/or restoration to a greater or lesser extent before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed. Prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's completeness, history, authenticity, originality and mechanical condition prior to bidding.
