Replacing the 330 GT 2+2, the 365 GT 2+2, was launched at the Paris Salon in October 1967. Sleekly styled in the manner of the limited edition 500 Superfast, the 365 GT 2+2 was the most refined Ferrari to date. Based on that of the contemporary 330 GTC, the chassis was made up of Ferrari's familiar combination of oval and round steel tubing, and as well as featuring independent suspension all round (for the first time on a Ferrari 2+2) boasted Koni's hydro-pneumatic self-levelling system at the rear. Further refinements included mounting the engine and drivetrain in rubber bushes to insulate the car's occupants from noise and vibration, and incorporating ZF power-assisted steering and air conditioning as standard equipment. Developing 320bhp in its 365 GT incarnation, the well-proven 4.4-litre V12 engine was coupled to a five-speed gearbox, while the car's blistering performance - top speed 150mph, 0-60mph in 7.0 seconds - was restrained by Girling ventilated discs all round. A total of 800 cars had been completed by the time production ceased in 1971.

This exceptional example was treated to an incredibly extensive bare-metal rotisserie restoration in 2021 by recognised specialists ADP Classic Racing and is presented today in immaculate condition. Part of the client's brief had been to make subtle refinements to the body - using elements taken from other Ferraris - while remaining true to Pininfarina's original conception. To this end ADP replicated bumpers in the style of the 500 Superfast and fitted custom-made rear lamps - influenced by those of the GTC/4 - and 275 side repeaters. Rolling on Borrani competition wire wheels shod with correct Michelin XWX tyres, this car also has aerodynamic headlamp covers, secured with custom-made retaining rings.

Unique to this car, the interior too has been upgraded to a higher standard, featuring a bespoke Alcantara headliner and non-reflective matte black leather trim to the dashboard, while the gauges are correct and have been rebuilt. The car left the factory equipped with air conditioning, which has been rebuilt and we are advised is fully functional. Sympathetically installed, a Becker head unit with Bluetooth connectivity provides a concession to modernity while remaining true to the period look.

On the mechanicals side, the engine was rebuilt in-house by ADP to Ferrari specifications and retains its original major components. The original five-speed manual gearbox and differential were likewise professionally overhauled, as were the steering, suspension and brakes. This truly is a rare opportunity to acquire a 365 GT 2+2 that has been the subject of such a detailed program of restoration and upgrading.
