The Lancia Aurelia was launched at the Turin Motor Show in 1950. It was the result of a close collaboration between designer Felice Mario Boano of Ghia, Carrozzeria Pininfarina and an engineering team led by Vittorio Jano, a former Alfa Romeo engineer and a leading figure in automotive engineering at the time. With its pioneering monocoque design, it was the first production car to be equipped with a V6 engine. The B20 of the third series and subsequent series, launched in 1953, were equipped with a 2,451 cc pushrod V6 engine developing 118 hp.

The chassis B20-3271 was completed on 23 September 1954 before being first registered on 23 November 1954 in the name of Lancia GB, in Alperton, England and delivered new on 1 December 1954 to A B Blanch & Co, in England. It is believed to be one of only six Aurelia B20 Series IVs delivered to the UK. It then belonged to Blanch Lely, in Wiltshire (from 11 January 1964), and then successively to A. McArthur, Beacon Motors, David Hayne, John Glen and Austin Watts, all in the Bristol area. In 1986, the Lancia was purchased by David Sankey, who undertook a complete and documented restoration, with Tim Burrett (an Aurelia specialist) rebuilding the engine with high-lift Nardi camshafts. On 1 December 2003, the Aurelia was purchased by Catherine Janssens, at a Bonhams sale. Maintenance and servicing continued to be carried out by Tim Burrett. In October 2010, the car was sold at auction in London, UK, to Brian Classick & Co, before being sold again in 2011. In 2013, the Lancia was repainted in the original Lancia colour, amaranto, by the Haslams restorers in Bolton, UK. The car was serviced by brand specialists, R&D Automotive Limited of Manchester, with parts supplied by Omicron Engineering Limited (including an MSD ignition conversion to aid starting and the fitting of a battery isolator).

Purchased by its current owner at our Goodwood Revival sale on 17 September 2022, it has since only covered a few hundred miles, always maintained with care and stored dry as advised by its owner. The car comes with an FCA Heritage Classiche certification (issued in July 2018), a FIVA passport, a FIA Historic Regularity documentation and English registration documents (logged as exported). The following items also come with the car: folder and plaque, documented historical folder, original 'bench-seating' frame, jack bag and embroidered Lancia interior car cover.
