• One of 500 built
• An interesting recommissioning project
A rare model with a short career that formed the joint between the 365 GT 2+2 and the 365 GT4 2+2, the 365 GTC/4 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971. Contemporary to the revered "Daytona", the 365 GTC /4 used an identical chassis and a wet-sump version of the 4,390cc four-overhead-cam V12 of this one with slightly lower power – 320bhp – mated to a conventional five-speed gearbox, instead. of the "Daytona" transaxle. The cylinder head had been modified to accommodate horizontal carburettors and had enabled coachbuilder Pininfarina to achieve an elegant and low bonnet line. "Discreet, sober and elegant as a whole, with subtleties that can be appreciated by contemplating it attentively. You could say this is a Ferrari dedicated to the discerning enthusiast," wrote Road & Track.
Overall more civilized and easier to drive than the heavy Daytona, the speedy 365 GTC/4 received ZF power steering and power-assisted brakes as standard, optional air conditioning and a particularly luxurious interior, equipped with individual folding seats in the front and booster seats in the rear. Despite increased refinement, the 365 GTC/4 was no match for its competitors in terms of performance, beating the 400m from a standing start in under 16 seconds with a top speed of over 240 km/h. When the model was discontinued in October 1972, production totaled only 500 examples, making it a particularly desirable model today.
Chassis 14545 left the factory on September 29, 1971 and was delivered new by the French importer Charles Pozzi on November 2 of the same year. Painted in Argento Auteuil Metalizzato and fitted with a black leather and gray plaid interior, this elegant 365 was maintained during its first years by the Levallois workshop. It later spent part of its life in Alsace, maintained by Internationale Automobile S.A. In 2002, 14545 was acquired by Thor Johannessen, near Cahors and thus integrated one of the most important French collections of the 2000s. It was in 2011 that its last private owner acquired it.
Since then, it was exhibited in its owner's private museum, this 365 GTC/4 is largely in original condition. Of course, it retains its original engine number 00026 corresponding to the Ferrari Pozzi identification plate. Its Weber carburettors also display serial numbers close to each other. The passenger compartment has a pleasant patina typical of the leathers used by Ferrari in the early 1970s.
Following several years of static display, this 365 GTC/4 represents an interesting project. Recommissioning will therefore be required, as the car has not been driven since 2023. In particular, bodywork repairs will be necessary to the underbody areas, as time and oxidation have affected certain sections of the chassis.
Sold with its French registration document as well as its user manual and spare parts catalogue, this 365 represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the least produced road-going Ferraris.
Please note that Bonhams has an ownership interest in this Lot.

1971 FERRARI 365 GTC/4
Châssis n°14545
Moteur n°00026
• Matching numbers moteur et châssis
• Seulement 500 exemplaires
