1936/1937 Moto-Scoot

1936/1937 Moto-Scoot
Frame no. B2276

In 1936 Chicagoan Norman A. Siegel saw what Salsbury was doing in California and decided to try his hand at 'scootering'. Using many similar design and technical ques, the Moto-Scoot manufacturing Co. started to take a significant market share by 1939. Producing scooters during the war and in the post war period, they would go on to produce more scooters than both Salsbury and Cushman. Equipped with a 1.5 H.P. Briggs and Stratton engine, they developed a reputation for reliability, and with their lightweight but robust design, they became the perfect way to mobilize in the post war era.

This 1936 Moto-Scoot is from the inaugural year of the brand. Featuring a direct drive an no clutch its quite the machine to put in use. It is believed by marque specialists that fewer than a dozen of these scooters survive. Having been restored to an award-winning level with the AACA, the restoration on this scooter really sets it apart, finished in a stunning red. After some sympathetic recommissioning this scooter will turn heads on both the show field or while puttering around your neighborhood.
