Frankfurt manufacturer Adler were making cars as early as 1902, and looking to consolidate the success of the Adler 6, introduced a pair of new models for 1932. The headlining Trumpf would employ unusual front-wheel drive, and the more competitively priced Primus would maintain a conventional rear-wheel drive layout. Initially available only as a two-door saloon and convertible, a handsome four-door body aping Ford's wildly successful Model A arrived in 1933. A 1504cc four-cylinder producing 32 bhp powered the Primus at its launch, with a more powerful 1645cc offered as an option from 1933. An updated version arrived in 1937, with the final Primus built as war loomed in 1938.
This lovely Adler Primus is fitted with a 1494cc engine and features an interior that was beautifully restored several decades ago. Part of the late owner's collection for at least fifteen years, it has been maintained in his professional garage. Despite this regular upkeep, it has been kept on static display in recent years. As a result, recommissioning will be required before it returns to the road and classic events. It comes with its original 1978 Fahrzeugbrief (German registration document).
