Frankfurt manufacturer Adler were making cars as early as 1902 and at one point were Germany's third largest car manufacturer, but it wasn't until the introduction of the Standard models in 1927 that the company presented a serious offering to market. Inspired by the American Chrysler cars and making its debut at the 1926 Berlin Motor Show, the Standard 6 was the first Adler to enter volume production. In addition to its design and steel body construction, the inline six-cylinder 2540cc motor and three-speed transmission also bore more than a passing resemblance to the contemporary Chrysler, but the Adler soon found favour with Germany's middle classes. A design collaboration with architect Walter Gropius saw the Bauhaus founder create a bespoke version, and the Adler 6 holds the distinction of being the first car to make a successful round-the-world circumnavigation, a two-year journey completed in 1929.
Part of the late owner's collection for nearly twenty years, this Adler has been maintained in his professional garage. Despite this regular upkeep, it has been kept on static display in recent years. As a result, recommissioning will be required before it returns to the road and classic events. It comes with various documentation and its German registration documents Teil I and Teil II.
