The steady march of Volkswagen Beetle evolution continued as the 1960s progressed, with the cars receiving a raft of technical innovations to ready them for the coming decade. In 1968 the Beetle transitioned to fully independent suspension, and by 1969 the 1300 Beetle used modern 12-volt electrics and benefited from a dual-circuit braking system. Over the years, the Beetle benefits from the new standards of design and from the 1970s was even fitted with a modern plastic dashboard and a new speedometer. The Bakelite steering was also replaced by a 4 spoke plastic one. The 1930s born Beetle knew how to evolve in its periods, this is the reason of its longevity.
This 1976 example has been delivered new in Dortmund by VAG agent Hülpert & Co. to Mrs. Ruthmann, in Lofotengrün, assorted with an orange vinyl interior, this Beetle lives in the 1970s better than any other car. Maintained and driven years after years, as proved by invoices and TÜV inspections, the car was purchased by its current owner in 2018. Barely used since, with a few hundred kilometres covered, the Beetle would require recommissioning prior to be enjoyed on the road.
This Green Bug' will be sold with copies of its Fahrzeugbrief and Europäische Gemeinschaft zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II; purchase invoice from 2018; Dekra documents but most of all, it is still accompanied by the purchase invoice of Mrs. Ruthmann's first Beetle, bought from Hülpert & Co. in 1967, and which was traded against her new 1976 Beetle for which we still have the invoice on file, as well as the car's Betriebsanleitung.
