- Only 28 km from new
- Special edition to mark the 50th anniversary of the Beetle
- A must-have in any collection
- German registration document
The Beetle was a much beloved icon, but as the 1970s progressed it was falling out of favour as the more modern Golf and Passat showed the future. German production ended in January 1978, with the Käfer still built at the Puebla, Mexico, plant until 2003. The 50th anniversary of the Beetle was marked in 1985 with limited run of 3,150 '50 Jahre Käfer' edition Beetles, built in Mexico exclusively for the German market and announced at that year's IAA-Frankfurt show. The cars were painted in a bespoke metallic hue called Zinkgrau, with a charming throwback in the use of a flat windscreen and chrome trim. Special badging on the trunk and engine covers, twin white side stripes, steel wheels, a sport steering wheel, and special grey upholstery and carpets created the look. The 1192cc single-carburettor flat-four was employed, along with four-wheel drum brakes and the updated independent suspension from the Super Beetle.
This exceptional "50 Jahre" Beetle, owned by the current owner for the past 14 years, is presented today with only 28 km on the odometer. It is accompanied by its 1989 Fahrzeugbrief (German registration document) and owner's manual. With such low mileage, this Beetle has been preserved on static display. As a result, recommissioning will be required before it can return to the road. This is an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire an essentially brand-new 50 Jahre Käfer.
