Conceived and constructed in just a few months, the XK120 debuted at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show where the stunning looking roadster caused a sensation. Conceived as a low-volume model, the XK120 proved considerably more popular than expected, the resulting demand for what was then the world's fastest production car taking Jaguar by surprise. It was immediately obvious that the ash-framed alloy coachwork would have to go and the body was swiftly re-engineered in steel.

The '120' referred to the car's top speed, which was confirmed when a carefully prepared example achieved 126.4mph with hood and side screens erected and 132.6mph minus its weather protection and equipped with an under-tray. The XK120 set new standards of comfort, roadholding and performance for British sports cars and, in keeping with the Jaguar tradition, there was nothing to touch it at the price. From launch until production ended in 1954, its popularity never slackened, especially in overseas markets that took over 85% of total output.

This great Jaguar XK 120 SE Open Two-Seater, delivered new in the USA the 4 January 1954, with a Suede Green livery with assorted trim according to its Jaguar Heritage certificate, now features the period's distinctive Old English White paintwork over a green leather interior and assorted soft top. Once part of the William Young collection in Seattle for more than 30 years of ownership, the car benefited from a full restoration - the engine is matching numbers, but the cylinder head has been changed with number 1786-8 - before being sold to its current owner in 2014 in Switzerland. Since then, the car has been serviced for over CHF 20,000.

The original seat backs and side windows will be sold with the car, which is now fitted with bucket seats. The car comes with its Swiss registration document, FIVA card, a photocopy of its Jaguar Heritage certificate and the 2014 sale announcement.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an unmissable XK 120 SE OTS with a timeless and attractive colour combination, excellent provenance, sound mechanicals and beautiful overall condition.
