Launched in 1967, the Commando deployed the preceding Atlas model's 750cc engine in the new vibration-beating Isolastic chassis and was an instant hit, being voted Motor Cycle News' 'Machine of the Year' for five consecutive years. Introduced in 1973, the 850 (actually 828cc) featured a larger-bore, through-bolted cylinder block, a stronger gearbox casting, and an all-metal clutch among a host of other, more minor improvements. Its extra capacity provided the 850 with even more mid-range urge, and the model would continue as the sole Commando after 1975. Purchased by the vendor some time ago and kept in a climate-controlled environment as part of a collection, this Commando 850 has been used sparingly and comes with a Swiss carte grise.

Lancée en 1967, la Commando réutilisait le moteur 750 cm3 de sa devancière l'Atlas, mais monté sur son nouveau cadre antivibratoire Isolastic. Elle rencontra un succès immédiat et fut élue cinq années de suite 'Moto de l'année' par Motor Cycle News. En 1973 arriva la 850 (en fait, une 828 cm3) qui recevait un bloc cylindres réalésé et à fixations traversantes, une fonderie de boite renforcée et un embrayage tout métal, plus d'autres améliorations de moindre importance. Sa cylindrée augmentée offrait à la 850 encore plus de punch aux régimes intermédiaires, et ce modèle resta après 1975 la seule Commando vendue.
Achetée il y a quelque temps par son actuel propriétaire et conservée au sein de sa collection maintenue sous atmosphère contrôlée, cette Commando 850 est munie de sa carte grise suisse et a été utilisée avec parcimonie.
