THE CAR OFFERED
Plymouth's Barracuda pony-car reached its zenith for a brief run in 1970-1971. Initially built on the compact A-Body platform in 1964, the compact grew into the exclusive E-Body platform in 1970, shared only with the Dodge Challenger. Performance variants of the Barracuda were now known just as the 'Cuda, and the wide-open option book with an array of engine, transmission, and appearance options (including one of the best color palettes in the business) meant buyers could have their 'Cuda as wild as they wanted.
This 1971 'Cuda hardtop from the Golden State Muscle Car Collection is one such example, powered by the potent V-Code 440 Six-Pack backed by desirable 4-speed manual transmission with Mopar's signature Pistol Grip gearshift. Finished in the appropriately bold shade of Rallye Red with a black vinyl roof, it is dressed for action with a Shaker hood, rally wheels, fish gill rocker moldings, and '440' quarter stripes.
The interior spec is businesslike, with vinyl bucket seats, Rallye gauges, a factory AM radio, and little else to distract from the business of going fast. And with a factory-rated 390bhp on tap, going fast comes easy.
Mopar's E-Body cars are some of the most beloved muscle cars of the early 70s, thanks to their outstanding performance and brash looks. This desirable 440 Six Pack 'Cuda ticks those boxes and many more.
