THE CAR OFFERED

One of the most appealing aspects of Detroit's muscle car era is the seemingly endless combination of platforms, engines, and options that a buyer could select to create their dream car. The Chevrolet Impala of 1965-1970 was no exception, with the full-sized platform providing ample space for GM's full range of performance engines.

One example of a high-performance Impala is this 1968 SS Convertible offered from the Golden State Muscle Car Collection. This 'Triple White' Impala SS is powered by the L36 427 cubic inch V8, rated at 385 horsepower. Unusually for the big Impala, the 427 is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission, supported by the 'IE' engine code.

Eschewing the typical flash and stripes of the period, this car is rather more understated with its white paint, top, and interior. Subtle 'SS 427' badges and Rallye wheels hint at what lurks under the skin. Bucket seats and a center console feature inside. Overall, this car appears well-preserved with an older restoration done to factory standards. Accompanying documentation includes a previous Ohio title, owner's manual, convertible top manual, and brochure.
