THE CAR OFFERED
For 1970, Dodge unveiled a redesigned mid-sized B-body Coronet line; including the Super Bee, Dodge's low-priced muscle car offering, and their answer to Plymouth's successful Roadrunner. While it was marketed as a more affordable alternative to the bigger Charger, the Super Bee could still pack a mighty punch. Engine options started with the 383 Magnum and included the 440 Six Pack and mythical 426 Hemi, ensuring nothing was left on the table in terms of performance.
This Super Bee is an outstanding example, finished in black with a red tail stripe over a black vinyl interior. It is a V-code 440 Six Pack car, paired with a 4-speed manual and Ramcharger intake. Accompanying documentation includes a window sticker from Hutton-Donaldson Dodge in Shreveport, Louisiana, as well as the broadcast sheet, decoding forms from marque expert Galen Govier and photos of the extensive restoration. According to Govier's Chrysler Registry, there are 85 known cars in this color and specification.
Like many cars in the Golden State Muscle Car Collection, this Super Bee sports a well-detailed restoration, which has been very well preserved during its time in the collection. An outstanding example for the devoted Mopar muscle collector, this rare Super Bee looks fresh from dominating the local stoplight drags.
