THE CAR OFFERED
After a rocky gestation period with the first generation Corvette, Chevrolet finally hit its stride with the renowned 'C2,' second generation Corvette, unveiled in 1963. Chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov finally managed to convince the top brass that the Corvette should be a proper sports car, and not just a parts-bin boulevardier. He created an all-new car with all independent suspension, a range of powerful V8 engines, available fuel injection, and four-wheel disc brakes on later models.
By the middle of C2 production, even the Corvette caught muscle car fever, with engineers shoehorning the big-block 396 under its fiberglass hood, sacrificing a bit of balance in favor of blistering straight-line speed. For the final year of the C2 in 1967, Corvette engineers continued with the big-block offering, taking advantage of the 396 growing into the fearsome 427.
From the Golden State Muscle Car Collection comes this 1967 Corvette Coupe, powered by the ultimate 427/435hp tri-power engine. With huge torque available, the 427/435hp pairs well with this car's Powerglide automatic transmission. This attractive Corvette is finished in its original color scheme of Silver Pearl over blue leather upholstery, and accented with a black 'Stinger' hood, a necessary addition to clear the taller big block and its optional tri-power carb setup.
A tidy and appealing car overall, it features Rallye wheels and has been fitted with a later, smaller diameter Grant GT steering wheel and aftermarket AM/FM Cassette stereo. The 427 appears mostly standard, save for tubular exhaust headers and electronic ignition to free up a few ponies. An honest and attractive driver-quality example, this rare and desirable 427 Corvette is ready for action, and certain to be a welcome addition to your collection.
