THE V12 VANTAGE ROADSTER
"Introducing the new V12 Vantage Roadster: The ultimate expression of style, sound and speed." This is how the latest in a long line of high-performance convertibles from Aston Martin that began with the Vantage Volante of the late 1980s, was launched at the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
Aston could already state that its modest production run of 249 examples was already accounted for as it reeled off a spec sheet that was top level for any of its peers. They stated "We have worked extremely hard to ensure the V12 Vantage Roadster possesses the same potency and dynamism that characterizes the V12 Vantage, while surpassing it in terms of raw sensory excitement that you only achieve with roof down driving. With more power and torque than any Vantage Roadster before it, a wide-track chassis with precisely tuned suspension calibration, and up to ten times the downforce of the series production Vantage Roadster, this is a breathtaking machine created for our most enthusiastic customers."
And commented that the "Key to this exhilarating driving experience is the powerhouse of the engine." Developing 700PS at 6500 rpm and 753Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, the quad-cam 60-deg 5.2-litre V12 is a true force of nature. With a power-to-weight ratio of 372PS-per-ton and an endlessly impressive delivery which combines effortless in-gear response with epic acceleration, every squeeze of the V12 Vantage Roadster's throttle leads to an unforgettable adrenaline rush.
That performance roster, ensured that the V12 roadster could propel itself from 0-60 in a mere 3.5 seconds, and continue on to a top velocity of 200 mph. Gone were the days of smuggling Vantage spec engines into the USA to fit in Volantes... On the technology side, power transfers through an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, with modern software to balance the car and driver relationship for safety at speed.
THE CAR OFFERED
The striking scheme commissioned here shows how the modern Aston Martin brand has evolved from silvers and greens of old to provide owners the option to customize their cars just as they want them. Badged as 'Q by Aston Martin', the program allows its clientele a wide array of personalization options. In the USA, the Q program home is one block from Bonhams Madison Avenue saleroom in New York, on Park Avenue, where prospective clients can pore over a multitude of design features and colors to uniquely specify a car to their wishes.
In the case of this stunning Aston Martin Roadster, it has been tailored in a contrasting tone of yellow and rich dark blue, the exterior is finished in Frosted Glass Yellow paintwork, a $32,400 option, with exposed blue carbon fiber lower panels ($15,200) and bespoke blue wheels. These are matched in the interior with quilted Aurora blue leather and Semi-Aniline/Electron yellow trim package, further interior accents in carbon fiber were chosen also. All told, the options bumped its $348,700 sticker to a massive $447,436 as delivered. What were clearly bold choices harmonize well and as delivered here through Aston Martin Scottsdale radiate in the desert light.
Essentially a brand-new car, resting with a little over delivery mileage at 50 miles on the odometer, this late production example, number 242 of the 249, is presented here ready to be enjoyed in all its glory.
