1960 Motobi 175cc Competizione Racing Motorcycle

1960 Motobi 175cc Competizione Racing Motorcycle
Frame no. 418299
Engine no. 13396

"From 1959, when one of the 172cc singles won the Italian Junior racing championships in the hands of Ambrosini, Motobi machines largely dominated this class of racing with another nine titles until their final championship win in 1972." – Mick Walker, Italian Racing Motorcycles. The now-defunct Italian manufacturer Motobi is closely related to Benelli, originating in 1949 when the eldest of the six Benelli brothers, Giuseppe, left to found his own company: Moto 'B' Pesaro, later Motobi. One of the most popular machines among privateers contesting the Italian championships, this rare Motobi racer is presented in apparently un-restored condition and has been signed by Primo Zanzani, a former racer and talented self-taught engineer who helped make the Motobis formidable competitors in the 125 and 175 classes. No documents.

As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.

Footnotes

1960 Motobi 175cc Competizione Racing Motorcycle
Cadre n°418299
Moteur n°13396
