Nomad Dog Kennel by Henning Stummel Architects

During the pandemic, the Henning Stummel Architects family grew by one; dachshund Juno joined the practice in 2020 and is now a firm fixture in the office, allowing for a more informed insight into the design process.

Using the model of their Nomad London furniture collection, the team's idea was to develop a flat pack structure of separate parts that slot together, eschewing the need for tools, fixings and glue by the owner and minimising waste. The kennel – built from sheets of recycled plastic cut by computer controlled routeing – is water-resistant and warm to the touch, providing a perfect retreat for dogs like Juno to enjoy, whatever the weather. Additional units can be added to allow for a covered extension for roaming hounds.
