AMC announced its post-war range of AJS and Matchless heavyweight singles in June 1945. Coded 16M and G3L respectively, the two 350cc models could be distinguished by the different magneto position: forward of the cylinder in the AJS, behind it in the Matchless. This AJS 16MS has been fitted with the engine from an earlier (1954) model. Presented in 'oily rag' cosmetic condition, the machine carries a tax disc expiring in July 1999, which is when it may have been last used. The engine turns over with compression, but otherwise the machine's mechanical condition remains unknown. Sold strictly as viewed, it comes with old/current V5C documents and a quantity of expired MoTs. It should be noted that this 16MS was previously fitted with engine number '54/16MS 22926', which is currently in another 16MS in this sale, registered 'UBM 226' (Lot 522).

For Memorabilia and Spares (Lots 101-238) the Buyers Premium is 27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price; 25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000; 20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,000,000 and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,000,000.
Motorcycles
For Motorcycles (Lots 1-75 & 301- 527) the Buyers Premium will be 15% on the first £500,000 of the Hammer Price of each Lot, and 12% on the balance thereafter.
Buyers attention is drawn to Condition 7 of the Notice to Bidders. VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.

Please note Bonhams do not provide shipping neither do Bonhams pack lots. Should you wish to organise collection of your lots via a third party carrier, they must check and pack lots on your behalf upon collection.
Shippers or Agents wishing to collect on behalf of the purchaser must provide written instruction from the client before Bonhams will release the lot(s). All purchases are at the buyers risk from the fall of the hammer.
Storage Notices
POST SALE COLLECTION AND SHIPPING INFORMATION
Motorcycles (Lots 1 to 75 and 301 to 527)
All purchased lots must be cleared from the sale venue by 7pm Sunday 10 October.
Purchases can only be released once full settlement (inclusive of all charges) of all invoices issued to the buyer is received in cleared funds.
Limited collection is available until 11am Monday 11 October, by appointment only, and purchasers must advise Bonhams Motorcycle Department via email no later than 7pm Sunday 10 October if they intend to collect Monday.
Please email [email protected] with your collection or transport instructions as soon as possible following your successful bid.
Failure to instruct Bonhams by the given time will result in your vehicle being uplifted to Moving Motorcycles Northamptonshire store at your expense.
Buyers should satisfy themselves that they have collected all relevant logbooks, documents and keys relating to their Lot(s) at time of collection.
Removal and Storage of Vehicles
All Lots not removed in accordance with the above will be transported to Moving Motorcycles' Northamptonshire storage facility.
