Footnotes

With the launch of the Z100¬ in 1961, Honda created the class known as 'Monkey Bikes', so called because of their diminutive stature. The power unit was the C100 step-thru's reliable four-stroke single, while an ultra-short wheelbase, small wheels, and a vestigial fuel tank were all features of a machine which, in the case of the folding handlebar version, could be fitted into the boot of a car. In 1963 the first CZ100 model appeared, the first model in line after the 1961 Honda Z100.

The Z50M was the first series of minibikes to be called "Monkeybike" by Honda. It was launched in 1967 for the European, Australian, and Canadian market. Some were exported for the Japanese market too. Production of this model ended in 1969.

This example of the Z50M, is fitted with a different larger headlight, destined for the French market. It was restored some time ago and has since been on static display. This monkeybike comes with Belgian registration papers.

Honda Z50M « MonkeyBike » 1967
Cadre n° Z50M-104728
Moteur n° Z50ME-117653
