1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I "Roadster" Registration no. GBD 464C Chassis no. 1E20816
The Jaguar E-Type is one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced, and it's famous the world around for its beautiful design and impressive driving dynamics. Upon its introduction in 1961, the Series I made a shockwave in the sports car sector with its sub seven second 0-60 time and 150mph top speed – all offered at a competitive price. Today the Series I is the most sought after of the three generations, largely due to its honest design which was later adjusted to comply with safety regulations.
This 1965 Series I E-Type 4.2 is presented in a beautiful red colour scheme which presents well with the black leather interior. Originally a coupe, this example was previously converted to a roadster, however it is known to be an original right-hand drive car. It was fully restored in 1999 with parts supplied by M&C Wilkinson, and it also had a full engine rebuild during the same year by VSE. This rebuild included a new unleaded head with the addition of GAZ shock absorbers, four pot brakes, a Kenlowe fan, and a new synchromesh gearbox. A good history file is also included with the car (with details post-1999) which displays extensive bills and invoices for the restoration which totalled £50,000. This is a good example of this iconic British sports car.
