Footnotes

Announced in September 1959, the 356B represents significant advances in driveability and comfort over earlier 356 models, and is a pleasingly quick way to enjoy the traditional Porsche values of quality, reliability and mechanical robustness.

This Karmann-bodied Porsche 356B was built on the 5th September 1962 having been ordered by Competition Hollywood in California, USA, the same dealership that delivered James Dean's Porsche a couple of years earlier. The car's first owner was Mr Simon Scott (1920-1991), a well-known TV actor living in Sherman Oaks in California. The current vendor acquired the Porsche in 2015.

This is a full matching numbers example, as confirmed by copies of the factory records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity on file. Also on file are photographs and spare parts invoices relating to the car's the restoration. Carried out between 2012 and 2015, these works included a new floor, new fuel tank, new upholstery, new rev counter cable, etc together with routine maintenance and re-balancing the carburettors. The car also benefits from new tyres and a new battery.

Driven often by the vendor, and described by him as in generally excellent condition, this beautiful Porsche 356B is offered with Belgian registration documents; safety inspection document and Car Pass; two sets of keys; two original handbooks (French and English); an original workshop manual (English); importation documents; an original Porsche 356 S90 catalogue; and the aforementioned invoices and factory records, etc.
