Introduced in 1963 as a wholesale reinvention of the Corvette, the second-generation Sting Ray represented a dramatic departure from its predecessor — lower, wider, and considerably more purposeful in character. Styled under the direction of Bill Mitchell and informed by his personal Stingray racer, the new body brought with it an independent rear suspension and a more sophisticated overall package that transformed the Corvette's reputation both at home and abroad. The convertible body style shared its singular 1963 season with the now-iconic split-window coupe, giving both variants a one-year-only distinction that has only deepened their desirability in the decades since.

THE CAR OFFERED

Assembled at the St. Louis plant and bearing sequential production number 114493, this C2 Corvette is powered by its correct, matching-numbers 327 cubic inch small-block V-8 in 300 horsepower tune, delivering power through a four-speed manual transmission. The engine suffix code F0425RD confirms assembly at the Flint engine plant on April 25, 1963, while the engine serial number 114493 corresponds to the VIN sequential production number.

Finished in Silver Blue Metallic (GM Color Code 912) over Dark Blue Vinyl interior (GM Code 490), this motorcar presents today as an honest, unrestored survivor. The paint retains its original silver-blue tone throughout, with the minor blemishes and patina consistent with a car that has been used and preserved rather than cosmetically altered. The car is reported to run and drive well, its mechanical honesty matching its visual one. The removable factory hardtop is included, adding both practicality and period-correct versatility.

The 300-horsepower specification, often overlooked in favor of the more powerful L76 or fuel-injected variants, is today appreciated by a discerning segment of collectors for precisely the qualities it embodies: tractable performance, long-term reliability, and a completeness of originality that higher-output examples seldom retain. Combined with its survivor condition, matching drivetrain, and the inherent one-year-only appeal of the 1963 body style, this motorcar presents as a compelling and thoroughly authentic example of one of the most significant American automobiles of the postwar era.
