THE LASALLE 345

By 1931, LaSalle had firmly established itself as the stylish companion marque to Cadillac, offering V8 elegance at a somewhat more accessible price. The 345-A Series represented the full flowering of this philosophy, its coachwork drawing on the talents of Harley Earl's design studio to deliver flowing, fashion-forward lines that set it apart from lesser machinery of the Depression era. The Victoria Sedan body style, with its sweeping roofline and formal greenhouse, exemplifies the period's aspirations toward graceful long-distance travel.

THE CAR OFFERED

The car offered here is presented in blue over black fenders, accent, and roof — a two-tone treatment entirely in keeping with the period — with a grey broadcloth interior. The dark red wire wheels and wide whitewall tires provide a handsome contrast, while the Depress Beam headlights, stoneguard, and windshield visor confirm a specification sympathetic to long-distance touring.

As an older restoration, this LaSalle carries the honest patina of age rather than the artifice of recent work. Overspray is noted on the side window tracks, and edge chips with some shrinkage and cracking are present in the finish. Coolant and oil seepage have been observed, and the engine and chassis present as dusty. The interior is sound but aged throughout. Prospective purchasers are encouraged to satisfy themselves as to condition prior to bidding. Nonetheless, this represents a quality restoration that has seen little use — a compelling opportunity to acquire a handsome prewar American classic ready to be enjoyed.
