• One of only two full-size police cruisers constructed in the context of Back to The Future Part II; the sole example fitted with a functioning engine and drivetrain, built on a Pontiac Fiero chassis
• Retains its original fibreglass bodywork, production decals, and lighting systems
• Formerly displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles, during the Hollywood Dream Machines exhibition
• Purchased directly from Gene Winfield by Movie Cars Central
Constructed as per Universal Pictures' Back to the Future Part II (1989), this full-scale "Hill Valley Police Cruiser" represents one of the most distinctive vehicles from the film's futuristic 2015 setting. Designed by concept artist Tim Flattery and fabricated by legendary custom builder Gene Winfield, it would be one of only two examples created and the only car built upon a Pontiac Fiero chassis with a fully operational drivetrain, enabling it to move independently for exterior and practical filming.
Sculpted at Winfield's Mojave workshop, the car's fibreglass body features aircraft-inspired contours, integrated light bars, and a distinctive enclosed cockpit canopy. Its advanced aesthetic perfectly captured the film's playful yet visionary depiction of the future.
After the release of the movie, the car remained in Winfield's personal collection before being restored for the Back to the Future 30th anniversary in 2015. It was subsequently displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles as part of the acclaimed Hollywood Dream Machines exhibition, alongside some of cinema's most celebrated vehicles.
Purchased directly from Gene Winfield by Movie Cars Central, today, the cruiser remains in largely original configuration, showcasing the unique craftsmanship and design ingenuity that helped shape Back to the Future Part II's enduring legacy. While it would benefit from cosmetic and mechanical work, it remains an instantly recognisable screen-used prop ideal for any serious film or pop-culture collection.
Sold on a bill of sale and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Gene Winfield himself, this is a prop vehicle not intended for road use.
