1992 Kawasaki ZR750 Zephr

1992 Kawasaki ZR750 Zephr
Registration no. J312 AKW
Frame no. ZR750C-019159
Engine no. KZ750EE157002

'A back to back... ride like this on two bikes with a 20 year age gap is the only way to impress yourself fully about the massive improvements that have been achieved in roadholding. The Zephyr is nowhere near cutting edge, but someone that has been riding a Z900 and nothing else for 20 years would be startled about every aspect of the ride it offers.' – Fast Bikes.

With the growing popularity of nostalgia-inspired 'retro' styled motorcycles, it was entirely predictable that Kawasaki would reprise its iconic Z1/900/1000 range in the form of the Zephyr. Having kicked off with 550cc and 750cc models, the Zephyr line-up expanded in 1992 to include an 1,100cc version, and all three kept to the traditional 'UJM' formula of an air-cooled, across-the-frame, four-cylinder engine carried in a tubular steel frame with twin-shock rear suspension. And as Fast Bike's tester discovered, the ZR750 Zephyr might have looked old fashioned but in performance terms it was in an entirely different league when compared to the bikes that had inspired it, particularly with regard to the brakes, which were found to be 'easily up with sports bike standards'.

Currently displaying a total of 22,656 miles on the odometer (at the time of cataloguing/photography), this Kawasaki Zephyr previously belonged to the private vendor's late father and reportedly was running well when last ridden in 2011. No attempt has been made to start it since and there has been significant cosmetic deterioration while in storage: the brake callipers are present but detached; there is extensive pitting to the front forks; and the indicator mounting rubbers have perished.

Following a period of inactivity and offered for restoration, prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycles history, authenticity, originality, mechanical condition, completeness (or otherwise), sold strictly as viewed (engine turns over). Accompanying documentation consists of current V5C and some expired MoTs.
