Registration no. not registered

The manufacturer of this mini-moto is not known, although it does have a Franco Morini engine. Not to be confused with the much older and more famous Moto Morini (although see below), Motori Franco Morini built proprietary engines for a host of Italian and other European moped manufacturers, often supplying them with the customer's name on the side. Founded in Bologna in 1954 when Franco Morini dissolved his partnership with Vittorio Minarelli, the firm also built some ultra-lightweight motorcycles of its own in the 1960s, although it would seem that these were only sold in the home market. In 1999, Motori Franco Morini bought the defunct Moto Morini brand from Texas Pacific Investment Group, which had acquired it, together with Ducati, from Cagiva. A new company was formed - Moto Morini Spa – and in 2004 its first product was displayed to the public. This was the formidable Corsaro v-twin superbike, designed by engineer Franco Lambertini, who had worked for the original Moto Morini company.

Sporting 'Ducati' decals and a Mike Hailwood Replica colour scheme, this mini-moto was purchased by the private vendor around 35 years ago and is fitted with a Franco Morini 50cc engine. No previous history is known and the machine is offered without documents and sold strictly as viewed. (The DGM [homologation] number has been checked and relates to a Franco Morini FM-S5 engine dating from April 1972.)
