Engine no. unable to locate

The Bantam Racing Club was formed in the early 1960s and organised its first championship in 1964, making theirs the longest-running one make/model championship in the world. Its races are run at British Historic Racing's meetings at circuits throughout the UK and there are two classes: 125 Formula Bantam and 175 Formula Bantam. To keep costs down, modifications are strictly limited: in the 125's case only three gears are allowed. Despite these apparent handicaps, a well ridden Bantam is capable of mixing it with much larger machinery, particularly on shorter tracks.

We are advised that this Bantam's engine was tuned by Graham Milton, a successful sidecar racer of the 1970s and a highly respected tuner of two-strokes. As well as the current (unidentified) frame, the engine has previously been mounted in a Triumph Mountain Cub frame, and the Bantam was in the latter specification when it was last ridden (in 1969) in the Northampton Motorcycle Club's 'Wild and Woolly' scramble, the world's oldest scrambles event. Reportedly very reliable, the Bantam came in 6th. When in the current frame, the engine is said to have powered the Bantam to over 80mph. Notable features include a close-ratio three-speed gearbox, while the forks and hubs are believed to be Tiger Cub. The machine will require restoration before further use and thus is sold strictly as viewed (the engine is full of oil and turns over). There are no documents with this Lot and is offered with a quantity of spares. Key not required.
