"Built many two-strokes from 172cc upwards and also 497cc ohv machines with transverse-mounted flat-twin power units." - Erwin Tragatsch, The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Motorcycles.

Daito Seiki Company Ltd of Tokyo built motorcycles from 1953 to 1960. Branded as 'DSK', their products were exact copies of the BMW R25 (A-25), R51 (A-50) and R26 (AB-25). It seems that BMW licensed their manufacture and sale in Japan, provided they were not exported. In 1957 DSK's factory burned down; the firm never fully recovered and was gone by 1960.

The DSK motorcycle offered here is a near identical copy of BMW's R25, one of the most advanced lightweights of its day. Its 245cc air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine produces 12 bhp, which reaches the ground via BMW's characteristic shaft drive. Suspension is by an Earles-type leading-link front fork and a swinging arm at the rear. The A-25 weighed 315lb and had a top speed of 65mph.

This restored A-25 currently displays a total of 29 kilometres on the odometer, which may well be the distance covered since the rebuild. It should be noted that the right-side handlebar controls and grip are loose. The accompanying key is for the headlamp.

Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning and/or restoration to a greater or lesser extent before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed. Prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's completeness, history, authenticity, originality and mechanical condition prior to bidding.
