1974 PSYCHO CYCLES CHOPPER BSA 650 cc engine – 1957/1958

A true statement piece from the motorcycle culture of the 1970s, this chopper was built in 1974 by Psycho Cycles, a renowned Parisian workshop known for its custom motorcycle creations and expertise in preparing machines with a radical aesthetic.

Entirely custom-built, the chopper features a distinctive chassis, frame and wheels, together with an extended front end and elongated handlebars. Numerous chrome components further enhance its iconic Seventies silhouette.

The motorcycle is powered by a 650 cc BSA engine dating from 1957/1958, a model particularly appreciated by enthusiasts of classic British motorcycles.
It retains its original paintwork, characteristic of the custom aesthetic of the 1970s, which greatly contributes to its authenticity and distinctive character.

Approximately ten years ago, the motorcycle underwent a complete restoration, covering the chassis, engine and electrical system. The engine was entirely rebuilt by Olivier Glaisse, a BSA specialist, who also carried out the overall restoration of the chopper.

The documentation includes a collection of restoration invoices, as well as a disc containing photographs documenting the various stages of the restoration.
Since this comprehensive rebuild, the engine has covered only approximately 20 kilometres and therefore remains in its running-in period.

With its spectacular silhouette, distinctive history and unmistakably Seventies aesthetic, this motorcycle represents a highly desirable piece for collectors.
The motorcycle is sold with its French collector's registration document, issued in the owner's name.

Buyers Premium and Charges
Like the vast majority of auctioneers Bonhams charge a Buyer's Premium on the Hammer Price of each Lot purchased and this is subject to VAT. Some lots may also be subject to VAT on the Hammer Price and these lots will be clearly marked with a symbol (†, Ω, *) printed beside the lot number.
For Automobilia the Buyer's Premium is 30% on the first €30,000 of the hammer price, 28% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of €30,000 up to and including €600,000, 25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of €600,000 up to and including €1,200,000, 21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of €1,200,000 up to and including €6,000,000, and 14% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of €6,000,000
For Motor Cars and Vehicle Registration Numbers the Buyer's Premium will be 15% FLAT of the Hammer Price on each vehicle.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% + VAT of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Buyers Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.
