• Formerly owned by Hans Hugenholtz Jr
• Semi-automatic transmission
• Comes with a Belgian registration document

What makes this particular Honda ATC truly exceptional is its provenance; it was formerly owned by Hans Hugenholtz Jr, son of the visionary circuit designer Hans Hugenholtz Sr, whose legacy includes iconic tracks such as Zandvoort and Suzuka. Hans Hugenholtz Jr, himself a familiar name in international motor sport, competed in events including the Tour Auto and 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Honda has been signed by Hans Hugenholtz Jr and also features a fascinating collection of stickers reflecting his motor sport connections. These include Spyker, the Dutch marque with which Hugenholtz Jr competed at Le Mans from 1997-2000, and Racing Team Holland, founded by his father and associated with drivers including Jan Lammers, Huub Rothengatter, Arie Luyendijk, and Rob Slotemaker, among others.

A number of more discreet stickers references the private jokes and camaraderie of the gentleman-racer's world, providing a charming glimpse into a bygone motor sport culture. The tow hitch also hints at a former life as a paddock runabout.

This particular example of Honda's iconic ATC series embodies an era when off-road riding represented freedom in its purest form. Compact yet capable, the ATC 110 was powered by a 105cc air-cooled four-stroke engine coupled to a semi-automatic four-speed gearbox with high- and low-range gearing. Its rugged steel frame, balloon tyres and low centre of gravity made it remarkably capable across a wide variety of terrain.

The year 1985 represented something of a turning point for three-wheeled all-terrain vehicles. It was one of the final years in which machines of this type could be legally registered in many markets, before increasingly stringent safety regulations brought an end to their production. As a result, original examples from this final era have become increasingly sought after by collectors.

The ATC is presented in original condition, retaining its authentic stickers and a degree of patina that only adds to its character and provenance. Its mileage is unknown. A rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Honda off-road history, made all the more special by a provenance that is sure to appeal to collectors of Honda, Spyker and motor sport memorabilia alike.
