"Here was a more recognisable, credible Ferrari V8 than the Dino 308 GT4, and with the same Pininfarina styling cues that Leonardo Fioravanti had brought to the 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer. There were only two seats, and the 240bhp V8 tucked in behind them should be able to give the best in the reduced 2.34m wheelbase." - The 100 Greatest Ferraris – Octane magazine.

Introduced at the Paris Salon in 1975, the stunningly beautiful 308 GTB - Ferrari's second V8-engined road car - marked a return to Pininfarina styling following the Bertone-designed 308 GT4 that had launched this highly successful series in 1973. Badged as a 'proper' Ferrari rather than a Dino like its mediate predecessor, the 308 GTB had changed little mechanically apart from a reduction in both wheelbase and weight, retaining its predecessor's underpinnings and transversely mounted 3-litre quad-cam engine that now featured dry-sump lubrication. In road tune this superbly engineered power unit produced 255bhp, an output good enough to propel the 308 GTB to a top speed of over 150mph (240km/h).

Produced initially with glassfibre bodywork - the first time this material had been used for a production Ferrari - the Scaglietti -built 308 GTB used steel after April 1977, while further developments included the introduction of an open-top GTS version with Targa-style removable roof, the adoption of Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection (1980) and, finally, revised cylinder heads with four valves per cylinder (1982). An exhilarating driver's car and a Ferrari purist's delight, the 308 GTB and its many derivatives proved a huge commercial success for Maranello with over 12,000 sold.

Believed delivered new in Italy, this fine example of Ferrari's first Pininfarina-styled V8 road car was previously owned by two subsequent owners from Trento in Northern Italy. Finished in the classic combination of red with black interior, the Ferrari was bought by the Keller Brothers' Collection around 2014 and has been used rarely since. It has been on static display - as have all the other cars in the collection - for at least seven years. Our trusted mechanic has started the car and we can attest that the engine runs; however, the Ferrari will need some further recommissioning before returning to the road. The car comes with its original jack and tools; Swiss Form 13.20A; a TüV inspection report; and old Italian documents.
