• Matching-numbers 2.0-litre six-cylinder engine
• Highly original and exceptionally well preserved
• Original service book with 11 documented services
• Desirable original Silver with Black interior colour combination

Offered here is an exceptionally original and beautifully preserved example of the highly sought-after 1971 Porsche 914/6, presented in its factory Silver with a Black interior and retaining its matching-numbers engine and transmission.

Produced for only a brief period, the six-cylinder 914/6 represents the most desirable road-going version of Porsche and Volkswagen's innovative mid-engined sports car. Only 3,360 examples were built between 1970 and 1972, making surviving cars of this quality, originality and provenance increasingly difficult to find.

This particular 914/6 was delivered new on 17th June 1971 in Chiasso, Switzerland, where it was first registered, and remained in Switzerland during the early part of its life. The accompanying original Swiss registration documentation records its early ownership, while the original service book provides an unusually detailed account of the car's use during this period. Between June 1971 and April 1977, 11 services were carried out by VW Porsche Zentrum Chiasso, beginning with the first recorded service at 1,111 kilometres and continuing through to 130,340 kilometres.

In 1977 the Porsche was taken off the road and entered a private collection in Chiasso, where it would remain preserved for more than two decades. In 1999 the collection was dispersed and the 914/6 was acquired by a German doctor. While in Germany, the Porsche was repainted in its original factory Silver, the colour in which it had originally been delivered.

The appeal of this exceptional 914/6 lies not only in its provenance but also in its remarkably high degree of preservation. The body and structure remain exceptionally original, with numerous details seldom encountered on cars of this age still intact. Particularly noteworthy are the surviving factory stickers and even the original white plastic rivets securing the rocker panels; details that speak strongly of the care with which the car has been preserved.

The Porsche retains its original matching-numbers engine and transmission, with engine number '6410236' corresponding to chassis number '9141430371'. The underside and body cavities have been professionally treated with Mike Sanders corrosion-protection grease.

The extensive accompanying documentation further distinguishes this example and includes the following:

• Original Porsche service booklet with comprehensive service stamps
• Eleven documented services by VW Porsche Zentrum Chiasso
• Original owner's manual
• Original Porsche document pouch
• Original cancelled Swiss Permis de Circulation
• Original German registration documents
• German historic "H" certification
• Supporting invoices and historical documentation

The service records are particularly noteworthy, documenting maintenance from June 1971 at 1,111 kilometres through April 1977 at 130,340 kilometres, shortly before the car entered long-term storage in the aforementioned collection.

With its matching-numbers drivetrain, exceptional originality, extensive period documentation and traceable Swiss and German history, this 1971 Porsche 914/6 is a particularly compelling example of one of Porsche's most distinctive sports cars.
Examples retaining this level of original detail and accompanied by such comprehensive period documentation are increasingly scarce. Combining rarity, provenance and preservation with the engaging character of Porsche's 2.0-litre flat-six and mid-engined chassis, this 914/6 would make an excellent addition to any serious Porsche or European sports-car collection.
