1958 BSA 350cc Gold Star
Registration no. KNJ 293
Frame no. CB32 8020
Engine no. DB.32.GS.1580
Factory records indicate that frame 'CB32 8020' was originally supplied in a DB32 Gold Star to Clubman's specification, although not with its current engine. The machine was dispatched to Comerfords of Thames Ditton in December 1958, making it a 1959 model. The current engine, 'DB32GS 1580', was originally installed in a different Gold Star which was supplied in Clubman's trim and dispatched to Fowlers of Bristol in June 1959. The registration number 'KNJ 293' dates from 1955 and was originally issued in East Sussex. As such, it is unlikely to have been originally assigned to this particular motorcycle.
According to the accompanying V5C document, the BSA was acquired by the late Mr Gordon Roberts on 8th July 2010. The registration document records 26th July 1955 as the date of first registration and lists the machine as a 350cc Historic Vehicle. The machine spent much of its recent life in the Inverness area of the Scottish Highlands, a region renowned for its outstanding motorcycling roads and scenic countryside. Based on the (2010) tyre dating and ownership history, it is believed that the restoration work was carried out shortly after Mr Roberts acquired the Goldie in 2010. We are advised by the executor that following restoration the motorcycle was used regularly until approximately five to seven years ago.
The odometer currently displays a total of 1,338 miles, which is believed to represent the mileage covered since restoration, although this cannot be verified. Notable upgrades include a belt primary drive conversion and what appears to be a modern clutch. The machine is also equipped with a BTH electronic self-generating coil ignition system together with an electronic voltage regulator, both marked improvements over the original equipment.
Since collection in April 2026, the Goldie has not been started or run. It should be noted that there is old liner loose inside the fuel tank; that the battery would not take a charge; and that the clutch could not be freed off.
Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning and/or restoration to a greater or lesser extent before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed. Prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's completeness, history, authenticity, originality and mechanical condition prior to bidding.
This 350 Goldie offers iconic British engineering, thrilling performance, rarity, and timeless character - a fantastic piece of motorcycling history. Offered with V5C.
