According to accompanying history, the Rickman frame kit was supplied to Doncaster Motorcycles in August 1977. A donor machine was subsequently purchased in June 1978 from Freddie Frith's by a local enthusiast from the Grimsby area, providing the basis for the completed Rickman special. Remarkably, the motorcycle remained in the same ownership until 2016, during which time it spent approximately 30 years in storage.
In 2016, having long been aware of the machine's existence, a local motorcycle enthusiast acquired the Rickman and commenced a comprehensive restoration. Between 2016 and 2018 the motorcycle underwent a meticulous nut-and-bolt rebuild, with photographic documentation retained to record the extensive work carried out. The restoration was undertaken to return the machine to a highly presentable standard while preserving the character of this increasingly scarce British special.
Acquired by the current private vendor in 2020, the motorcycle has since formed part of a small private collection and has been kept in heated, climate-controlled storage.
A rare opportunity to acquire a beautifully restored example of one of the most sought-after Rickman hybrids, this CR1000 is expected to appeal to collectors of classic superbikes and specialist British engineering alike.
Accompanied by a current/old V5C, purchase invoice & Rickman Assembly Instruction book.
It should be noted that the HPI database/V5C records the VIN number as 'KZT00A-024119'. Accordingly, prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to the validity and status of this motorcycle's registration prior to bidding.
