1999 Yamaha TZ250 Racing Motorcycle Registration no. not registered Frame no. CG060-000012 Engine no. 4TW-001672

Estimate: £8,000 - £10,000

1999 Yamaha TZ250 Racing Motorcycle
Registration no. not registered
Frame no. CG060-000012
Engine no. 4TW-001672

In 1999 Yamaha produced the last version of its short-stroke (56x50.4mm) two-stroke Grand Prix racer before changing the engine dimensions to 54x54.4mm on the 5KE model in 2000.

This machine was believed to originally raced in the Japanese championship in 1999 before being retired. Stored until imported into the UK in 2012, it was purchased as a non-running example to original (unleaded) specification from Gekko Motorcycles. The TZ was then fully overhauled with many new parts including titanium nuts and bolts, BST carbon wheels, wiring loom, crankshaft and all bearings and seals. The machine is set up to run on 102 octane Sunoco race fuel and standard specification as per the Yamaha manual.

From 2013 onwards the Yamaha was raced in 2-Stroke GP, BEMSEE Blue Haze and ACU 250 National Championships, winning the 2Stroke GP championship twice and Blue Haze once, with two 2nd place finishes. Rebuilt during the winter of 2019 and then dry stored, the machine was recommissioned in the autumn of 2025 and would need a further check-over and new tyres before being raced. Accordingly, prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's completeness, history, authenticity, originality, constituent components and mechanical condition prior to bidding.

The machine comes complete with front and rear stands, tyre warmers, front and rear sprockets, a set of jets and new brake pads. All the removed original nuts and bolts and the original gear-change lever are included in the sale. There is also a substantial quantity of very useful spare parts available via separate negotiation with the private vendor.
