RHB 350cc Blackburne-Engined Special
Registration no. unregistered
Frame no. not located
Engine no. L1775

• Built by the late Henry Body
• Inexpensive entry to vintage motorcycling

Henry Body was a well-known engineer/collector/sprinter based in the west country, who had continued to sprint several of his Douglas machines well beyond his pensionable age. The subject of several articles over the years, Body was to be seen regularly at the Weston Zoyland airfield, sprinting his machines, and in spite of his age, a prosthetic hip joint, and a pacemaker, he would regularly win his class. He sadly passed away, and his collection of machines and spares were dispersed in 2024.

At some point he had constructed this Blackburne-engined special, which consists of a side-valve Blackburne engine, an Albion three-speed gearbox, believed Douglas forks, Lucas magneto, and a frame of unknown origin. The RHB Special is unregistered, and a frame number has not, so far, been found. The machine was last run in 2024, and should only need minor re-commissioning and safety checks prior to further use. It is being sold only due to the owner's advancing age and health issues. Documentation comprises the vendor's purchase receipt, some copy photographs, and details of a previous auction sale of the machine.
