Offered here is Dave Leach's Production TT-winning Yamaha FZR1000, presented in 'as last raced' condition. Contemporary publications on file describe the race as having been run in difficult and ultimately tragic circumstances, with serious incidents early on affecting a number of competitors. Despite this, Leach quickly established control of the race, building and maintaining a clear lead throughout. Riding with consistency and composure, he extended his advantage through the pit stops and into the closing stages, with his nearest rivals - including Nick Jefferies and Alan Batson - unable to close the gap. On the final lap, Leach managed the race from the front to secure victory by approximately 11 seconds, the Yamaha performing faultlessly over the full race distance.

Accompanying documentation includes a 1989 Isle of Man TT Official Race Guide, together with a Yamaha owner's manual, inside of which the machine's frame and engine numbers are handwritten. The vendor advises that a publication covering both the race and the machine will be supplied also. The file also contains a signed letter from Dave Leach (dated 3rd February 1990) confirming that the Yamaha FZR1000 (engine number '3LG-000139', frame number 'YM 3LG 000139') is the machine supplied by Wylie & Holland for the 1989 1300cc Production TT, in which he won in a record time of 1 hour 18 minutes 19.4 seconds, at an average speed of 115.61 mph.

Acquired by the vendor in 1991, the machine retains a scrutineer's technical inspection sticker for Saturday 9th June 2007 together with period sponsorship decals including Jim Watters Haulage, West Vale Engineering, EK Power Chains, HiTech Racing Suspension, Avon, NGK, Ferodo, Gemini Oil, Wylie & Holland, and FM. Also on file is an MoT certificate dated July 1994. Offered with old/current V5/V5C documents.

Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning and/or restoration to a greater or lesser extent before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed. Prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's completeness, history, authenticity, originality and mechanical condition prior to bidding.
