The David Plant Collection
1927 Sunbeam 500cc Model 6 with Model 9 engine
Registration no. CSU 308
Frame no. B1436 & 6434 (see text)
Engine no. L3184

Gearbox no. B112284

Originally a Model 6 sidevalve, this Vintage-era Sunbeam has been fitted with an overhead-valve engine from a Model 9, reflecting the relatively easy interchangeability of major components at this time. Statements of search supplied by the Vintage Motor Cycle Club (VMCC), confirming that both the frame and engine date from 1927. The engine is a twin-port, with the right-side port blanked off.

An older restoration, the Sunbeam was registered to the current vendor on 1st November 1995 and is presented in generally complete condition. The machine is offered with MoT certificates dated August 1986 and May 1988, and old/current V5C Registration Certificates. The engine turns over. Engine number J1469 is recorded on HPI. It should be noted that two frame numbers are present on this machine, B1436 which appears to be a none factory stamp and 6434 which appears to be an original factory stamp.

Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning and/or restoration to a greater or lesser extent before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed. Prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's completeness, history, authenticity, originality and mechanical condition prior to bidding.
