THE PACKARD 110

Packard had long enjoyed its reputation among the American premium "Three P's" which also included Peerless and Pierce Arrow, stellar company indeed. For its 1940 model line (Eighteenth Series), Packard again offered both "Junior" and "Senior" lines, the least expensive of which was the 110 with a six-cylinder engine. The 110s included a two-passenger Business Coupe, a four-place Club Coupe, a convertible coupe, traditional two- and four-door sedans, and a station wagon.

These 110s were fitted with a 100-horsepower, cast-iron, F-head in-line six of 245 cubic inches. Their three-speed manual transmissions were controlled via a column shift. The Convertible Coupe, as offered here, carried a factory price of just over $1100.

THE CAR OFFERED

This particular 1940 Packard 110 Convertible Coupe, was acquired by the consignor roughly a decade ago, and subsequently underwent some light restoration work. This example is awash in period accessories, such as the "towel rack" front bumper guard, under-dash heater and extra speakers. It is very original and well kept. The paper oil change sticker on the inner door (from 1976) is an indication that this Packard has been in longtime dry environments. The car currently resides in New Mexico, while the aforementioned oil change sticker indicates that it was previously located in Arcadia, California. Additionally, this Packard is registered and offered on California DMV generated VIN. While showing some patina, this Packard is a very useable and the perfect pre-war to be contemporaneously motored and enjoyed by any modern enthusiast. As the saying goes "ask the man who owns one" and you are likely to get nothing but a glowing report on this Packard's capabilities and eager pleadings to add a Packard to your collection.
