THE DIABLO GT

The culmination of a decade of Diablo development, the Lamborghini Diablo GT stands as one of the most uncompromising road cars ever to emerge from Sant'Agata Bolognese. Unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show in March 1999 as a homologation-inspired, track-focused evolution of the legendary Diablo, it was produced in a strictly limited run of just 80 examples — though 83 were ultimately delivered before the entire production run sold out in January 2000. It remains among the rarest and most coveted Lamborghinis of the modern era.

At its heart lies a 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 producing 575 horsepower, driving the rear wheels exclusively through a five-speed manual gearbox. In a deliberate departure from the all-wheel-drive Diablo VT, Lamborghini stripped the GT to its essence — extensive carbon fiber construction, dramatically widened bodywork, a functional roof-mounted ram-air intake, and a purposefully spartan cockpit all in pursuit of one goal: maximum performance with minimum compromise. An Individual Intake System with a dedicated throttle body per cylinder, paired with Lamborghini's Exhaust Noise Control System, ensured the engine breathed — and sounded — unlike any other Diablo. The result was a 0–100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 338 km/h, making it the most formidable road-going Diablo ever produced.

Visually, the GT is impossible to mistake. Flared fenders, unique OZ Racing wheels, NACA ducts, a prominent rear diffuser, and a high-gloss carbon fiber rear wing transformed the already dramatic Diablo into something altogether more extreme. The GT's development directly informed both the subsequent Diablo VT 6.0 and the track-only GTR, cementing its place as the technical apex of the entire Diablo lineage.

Launched at approximately $300,000, the GT was immediately recognized as a future collector's piece — and time has validated that judgment entirely. For the serious collector, it stands not only as the purest expression of Lamborghini's pre-Murciélago era, but as one of the defining performance cars of the late 1990s and a true landmark in the marque's storied history.

THE CAR OFFERED

VIN. ZA9DE21A0YLA12561, the 74th of just 80 Diablo GTs produced, represents one of the rarest and most significant road cars ever to emerge from Lamborghini's Sant'Agata factory. Originally delivered in rare and striking Black Rage-over-Nero leather bucket seats with carbon fiber trim, this exceptional example embodies the uncompromising philosophy that established the GT as the ultimate expression of the legendary Diablo lineage.

Occupying a singular position in Lamborghini history, the Diablo GT stands as the final and most focused evolution of the original Diablo platform. Developed before the arrival of the Audi-era VT 6.0, it serves as both the culmination of Lamborghini's raw, analog supercar tradition and a bridge to the marque's modern era. With its naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12, gated five-speed manual gearbox, rear-wheel-drive configuration, and absence of modern electronic intervention, the GT delivers an increasingly rare level of driver engagement that few contemporary performance cars can replicate.

Showing just 14,208 kilometers at the time of cataloging, chassis 12561 has remained under the stewardship of its current owner for the past 19 years and is offered with a U.S. title. Professionally maintained by master Lamborghini mechanic Steve Gleanor at Driven Exotics, the clutch was replaced at 12,225 kms.

Accompanying the vehicle are its rare factory leather briefcase, owner's manual, service records, one key with remote, a set of installed racing harnesses, optional back up camera and complete factory OEM tool kit in leather bag.

More than a quarter century after its introduction, the Diablo GT is widely regarded as one of the defining supercars of its era and among the most collectible Lamborghinis ever built. Combining extraordinary rarity, exhilarating performance, and unmistakable visual presence, chassis 12561 presents a compelling opportunity to acquire one of the finest expressions of Lamborghini's V12 heritage landmark model that remains every bit as captivating, visceral, and uncompromising today as when it first left Sant'Agata Bolognese.
