THE CAR OFFERED
VIN. WDB1240361C179719 is one of only 951 E500 Limited models produced during the final two years of W124 E-Class production, hand-assembled at Porsche's Rössle-Bau facility in Zuffenhausen alongside the contemporary Audi RS2 Avant. According to its Kardex, the car was released from the Schwäbisch Gmünd order branch on September 21, 1994, and built the following day, finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744U) over black leather with grey airbrushed leather inserts, before delivery to AMG Japan for completion to full E60 AMG Limited specification. Factory-fitted equipment included electrically adjustable front seats with memory, automatic climate control, an electric sliding sunroof, Birdseye maple wood trim, and factory alarm and immobilizer systems.
The AMG conversion comprised installation of a hand-built 5.95-liter M119 V8, AMG-specific suspension, a correct AMG exhaust system, and 17-inch AMG Aero III multi-piece wheels, together with AMG front and rear valances, dual square exhaust tips, and E60 badging — all layered over the standard car's hallmark W124 details, including headlamp washers, integrated fog lamps, and power sunroof.
The car's history is understood to trace to a Japanese collector who originally sought a factory German-built E60 AMG Limited; when the initial allocation of 45 cars built by AMG Germany under option codes 957 and 958 proved fully subscribed, the order was redirected to AMG Japan for completion to identical specification.
This account has been corroborated by two independent, long-standing AMG authorities: Mr. Ziegler, original owner of one of the 45 German factory-built cars, who confirmed a supplementary batch of 15 further German-completed examples — bringing total German production to 60, with both his and his business partner's cars remaining in Swiss ownership since new — and Mr. Watanabe, a longtime AMG observer in Japan, who confirmed that only two E60 AMG Limited cars were completed new by AMG Japan: this Brilliant Silver example and a second finished in Sapphire Black. Mr. Watanabe further recalled the present car's inclusion in a period Japanese photo shoot.
The engine number stamped to the rear of the block corresponds to the small batch of AMG-built M119 units reserved for cars carrying both option codes 957 and 958, consistent with this history. On this basis, a total of approximately 62 original factory E60 AMG Limited examples are understood to survive worldwide.
The car remained in Japan with its original owner and one subsequent private custodian before export and import to the United States in September 2025. A Japanese DMV extract documents the complete ownership chain and confirms the car's low recorded use; the odometer presently reads approximately 47,000 kilometers (29,000 miles).
Following importation, the car underwent comprehensive recommissioning by recognized W124 specialists, with the objective of preservation rather than restoration. Work included servicing of the four-speed automatic transmission, a valve adjustment to the M119 engine, replacement of the tires, engine mounts, valve cover gaskets, and spark plugs, inspection of the wiring harness for age-related degradation, and restoration of the correct factory lighting configuration. Genuine Mercedes-Benz/AMG-specification components and fluids were used throughout. A matching set of new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, sized 235/45 ZR17 front and 265/40 ZR17 rear, was fitted.
The Brilliant Silver exterior finish retains its original brilliance and presents without any significant blemishes, having received a protective ceramic coating; the original AMG aerodynamic components are similarly unmarked. The cabin, including the leather upholstery, Recaro seats with their airbrushed inserts, Birdseye maple veneers, carpeting, and headliner, presents in exceptional, near-new condition, with all electrical, instrumentation, and climate control systems reported fully operational. A new Mercedes-Benz OEM US-specification battery has been fitted.
VIN. WDB1240361C179719 is offered with its Kardex, Japanese Export Certificate, recent service records, prior registration documents, a CarVX report, and a clean Florida title, together with its original delivery accessories: owner's manuals, maintenance booklet, spare master keys with alarm remote fob, radio instruction manual and code card, unused full-size spare wheel and tire, original tool roll and jack, service tags, first-aid kit, warning triangle, and the factory-original floor mats exclusive to the Limited W124, together with an additional set of all-weather mats.
Retaining its original AMG conversion and factory-correct specification throughout, VIN. WDB1240361C179719 appears to remain largely as delivered to its first owner — a rare, thoroughly documented example from AMG's independent, pre-integration era, and one of only two E60 AMG Limited cars completed new in Japan. Combining exceptional provenance, documented originality, and extraordinary scarcity, it represents an opportunity to acquire one of the defining achievements of AMG's formative history, and one of the rarest and most significant Mercedes-Benz performance saloons of its era.
This pre-merger E60 AMG represents Affalterbach's hand-built ethos in its most authentic form, created before AMG's formal integration into Mercedes-Benz — a moment when engineering ambition and craftsmanship converged without corporate dilution. Preserved to a high standard and finished in its factory limited-edition specification, this example is one of only a handful known to survive, offering collectors documented provenance and originality from AMG's most formative era.
