THE FORD GT

Unveiled at the 2002 North American International Auto Show as a rolling tribute to Henry Ford II's Le Mans-conquering GT40s, the Ford GT was conceived as an audacious celebration of both the brand's centennial and its competition prowess. Its gestation reflected the finest in American motorsport legend—a modern reinterpretation of the iconic GT40, shaped via advanced computational design yet informed by the demands of road and track.

Developed by Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) under the direction of Camilo Pardo and Chris Theodore, the GT promised breathtaking performance harnessed within an instantly recognizable silhouette. Every styling detail—the sloping roofline, the gaping hood nostrils, the low-slung haunches—evoked the mythos of the 1960s original. Automotive enthusiasts immediately recognized the GT not merely as a retro exercise, but as a bona fide supercar, intended to stand shoulder to shoulder with Europe's best.

Engineered around an aluminum spaceframe chassis and clothed in superformed aluminum panels, the Ford GT exemplified meticulous construction. At its heart lay a 5.4-liter, all-aluminum, double overhead cam V8, augmented with an Eaton twin-screw supercharger and robust internals. This formidable powerplant yielded an official output of 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque—figures that, even today, demand respect. Crucially, a Ricardo-sourced six-speed manual gearbox, renowned for its mechanical precision, fed the rear wheels, offering an unfiltered connection between driver, engine, and tarmac.

Technically, the GT left little to be desired. In addition to its formidable straight-line pace—0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, and a top speed cresting 200 mph—the chassis was a masterclass in balance. Four-wheel independent suspension, Brembo monobloc brakes, and bespoke Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires delivered composure and poise required at the highest echelon. In the realm of analog supercars, few machines ever rivaled its holistic blend of speed, handling, and mechanical tactility.

Inside, Ford's flagship spared no expense: Ebony leather, magnesium switchgear, and exposed aluminum surfaces evoked both racecar function and modern luxury. The ergonomics spoke to a purity of mission—minor concessions for comfort, maximum focus upon the driver's engagement. Among connoisseurs, subtle differences in color, options, and "stripe delete" configurations have become coveted markers of rarity among the already scarce production run.

Manufactured at Ford's historic Wixom Assembly Plant in Michigan, only 4,038 Ford GTs were completed between 2004 and 2006. Final-year cars, such as the example offered, benefited from production refinements and—due to limited build slots—heightened exclusivity. Of those, an even smaller fraction were allotted to export markets, equipped to comply with local regulations and fitted with metric instrumentation.

Today, the Ford GT is widely admired as a canonical American supercar—collectible, exhilarating, and faithfully evocative of one of motorsport's greatest legacies. Preserved, low-mileage, and scarce-specification cars remain on the shortlist for enthusiasts, museum curators, and blue-chip collectors seeking superlative provenance and show-stopping performance in a single, timeless package.

THE CAR OFFERED

This exceptional 2006 Ford GT, chassis 1FAFP90S36Y402008, represents a highly original and carefully preserved example of Ford's modern supercar. Built on September 13, 2006, at the Wixom Assembly Plant and delivered new to Canada via Kentwood Ford Sales in Edmonton, it is one of a limited number of export-specification cars, as confirmed by its accompanying Standard and Deluxe Marti Reports.

Finished in factory Tungsten Gray Metallic—a sophisticated, light-shifting hue—this GT is further distinguished by its rare stripe-delete configuration. Of the already limited Tungsten production, just 25 cars were specified without over-body stripes, giving it a purposeful and understated appearance.

Even more notably, Marti documentation confirms that only six 2006 examples combined this color with red-painted brake calipers, BBS Wheels and the optional Mcintosh stereo, placing it among the rarest configurations of the model.

The interior is trimmed in original Ebony Black leather and remains in superb, factory-correct condition. Showing just 1,960 miles from new, the car's outstanding presentation reflects careful, sparing use and meticulous stewardship.

A rare, low-mileage, and highly original Ford GT in one of the model's most desirable configurations, chassis 402008 represents a compelling opportunity for the discerning collector.
