The Connoisseurs' Collection Part IV
1926 Ford Model T Pickup Truck

1926 Ford Model T Pickup Truck
Registration no. Not UK registered
Engine no. E-14350987

Ford did not begin seriously to exploit the Model T's possibilities as a commercial vehicle until 1914, when it made the bare chassis available separately for bodying by independent firms. In 1925 a Pickup body became available for the Runabout (Roadster) at a cost of $25. 1925 was the first year that a Pickup featured in the Ford catalogue.

The Model T underwent a major revision for 1926, and was announced as the 'Improved Ford' in August 1925. In fact, it was yet another restyling job and Ford went out of its way to reassure dealers and customers alike that mechanically the Model T remained unchanged.

A copy fax on file reveals that this Model T Pickup was bought in 2000 via The Volo Auto Museum of Volo, Illinois for $17,000. An old US title records George Qunell of Naperville, IL as previous owner in the late 1990s.The aforementioned fax lists a professional restoration of the engine and mechanicals, and new paint, and states that the vehicle runs and drives excellent (sic). Presented in running condition, the Model T is offered with copy magazine articles and shipping paperwork relating to its importation into Japan. The vehicle has been kept on static display/storage since acquisition and will require recommissioning before further use.
