1970 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 Saloon
Chassis no. 109.018.12.004449

• Delivered new in the USA
• Imported into Germany from California in 2005
• Comprehensively restored in 2005 (full details on file)
• Test-report rated as 'Condition 1'

Announced at the 1968 Geneva Salon, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 was the ultimate wolf in sheep's clothing. Visually, the car was practically identical to other W109 models, but - thanks to the 600 limousine's fuel-injected 6,332cc V8 - offered stupendous performance. Air suspension, a limited-slip differential, and four-wheel disc brakes came as standard. Capable of sprinting to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaching 220km/h (136mph), the '6.3' could outrun almost anything else on the road, sports cars included. Enthusiastic owners included Hollywood icon Steve McQueen, who famously ordered one after his Porsche 911 was blown away by a '6.3' on the German Autobahn.

One of only 6,526 produced, the example offered here was first delivered in California in June 1970. In 2005 it was brought to Germany and the previous owner started a comprehensive restoration process that took 1,550 hours. Finished in Silver Grey Metallic with black leather interior, this magnificent Mercedes-Benz is in beautifully preserved condition, having travelled only 15,000 kilometres since restoration. A recent third-party report from Franc Gourge at KFZ-Sachverständige declares that the car is in overall good condition both mechanically and cosmetically, and grades it as 'Condition 1', the top of the scale.

The car comes with German registration documents; the aforementioned condition report; and a file of 1,000-plus restoration photographs.
