This gorgeous automobile offered here is one of the rarest and most exclusive of modern-day Bentleys: the Continental R Millennium Edition, only ten of which were made to commemorate the start of the 21st Century. The Millennium was based on the Continental R Mulliner; all were left-hand drive and all went to the North American Market.

Introduced at Geneva in the spring of 1999, the Continental R Mulliner was as powerful as the short-wheelbase Continental T, boasting a maximum output of 420bhp and a staggering 650ft/lb of torque, the latter delivered at all of 2,200rpm. The 0-60mph time dropped to a fraction under 6 seconds, while top speed increased to 167mph (268km/h). Improved suspension, quicker steering, switchable traction control and massive 18" diameter wheels helped keep the 2,450kg plot under control.

Manufactured in October 1999, this Continental R Millennium has the special Mulliner wide body with 4" wheelarch flares; the 420bhp 6.75-litre turbocharged engine; a stainless steel laser-cut matrix grille; and 18" chrome wheels. Unique interior features include a push-button starter and numbered tread plates with 'Millennium Edition' engraving; this car is engraved 'No.1'.

When introduced, the Millennium was the most expensive Bentley of the 20th Century and most expensive production car of the year 2000, with a base price of around US$400.000. Of the ten, only two Millennium models were completed with the desirable triple-black livery (1, 2) and only three Millenniums are located in Europe (1, 4, 7). Our vendor purchased the Bentley in 2009 from the Daniel Schmitt dealership in St Louis, Missouri; it has covered circa 42,000km (26,100mls) from new and is believed to have had only two or three previous owners. Since acquisition the Millennium has been serviced by Harold Jacobs, Silver Hill, Netherlands. It comes with German registration documents. Details of this car may be found on Marinus Rijkers' web site, rrsilverspirit.com.
