Introduced in January 1964, the 330 GT 2+2 was the second of Ferrari's four-seater road cars, following the 250 GTE 2+2. Pininfarina was once again entrusted with the styling, adopting a four-headlamp frontal treatment that reflected the tastes of Ferrari's most important export market, the USA. The 330 GT's tubular chassis was 50mm longer in the wheelbase than before, which made conditions less cramped for the rear passengers, while improvements to the discs-all-round braking system saw separate hydraulic circuits adopted for front and rear.

Displacing 3,967cc, the single-overhead-camshaft, all-alloy V12 engine was good for 300-plus horsepower, an output sufficient to propel the 330 GT to a maximum velocity of 152mph (245km/h) making it, when introduced, the fastest road-going Ferrari. Equipped at first with a four-speeds-plus-overdrive gearbox, the 330 GT gained a five-speed transmission mid-1965 and later that year had its four-headlight front end replaced by a two-lamp arrangement, these later cars being known as the 'Series II'. By the time production ceased in 1967, Ferrari had built 1,088 330 GTs, of which 460 were to Series II specification.

This desirable two-headlamp Series II was delivered new in Rome, Italy on 12th February 1966 and registered to one Umberto Martinozzi, as recorded in the accompanying Carta di Circolazione and Foglio Complementare. On 12th May 1967 the Ferrari was sold to Giorgio Marcella in Rome, and at the end of 1968 was acquired by another Roman resident, Maurizio Rometti. The car's subsequent ownership history is not known prior to the current owner's acquisition two years ago. A highly original example, unusual in so far as it has never been restored, '8023' retains its matching engine, original metallic grey paintwork, and original light blue leather interior.

In addition to the aforementioned documents, the Ferrari also comes with its old Roman license plates. The car is not currently registered and is sold without a technical inspection. A wonderful opportunity to acquire a highly original example of this landmark Ferrari Gran Turismo, delivered new to Rome, which undoubtedly forms the basis of a beautiful restoration project.
