"Perhaps France's most prolific coachbuilders, Henri Chapron's label epitomized the classic style of body design through several generations, evolving at the same pace as popular taste – often in the vanguard, but careful never to be ahead of his time." - The Beaulieu Encyclopedia of the Automobile – Coachbuilding.

Today, the name of Henri Chapron is forever associated with his sublime soft-tops on the Citroën DS platform. Chapron's interpretations of the Citroën DS and ID were quite different from the regular production versions. Chapron added fins to the rear wing tops of Citroëns as early as 1965 and launched his own version of an upmarket DS at the Porte de Versailles Salon de l'Auto in October 1964 using the name 'Majesty'. Its purpose was to satisfy the few customers who considered the upmarket DS Prestige insufficiently exclusive, although that too was built by Chapron for Citroën. The Majesty featured a higher and more angular roofline compared to the factory DS, similar to the 'Concorde' coach, affording increased headroom for the rear passengers and greater interior space. This limited edition model was produced up to 1969, with only 27 examples being built in total.

A masterpiece of French automotive craftsmanship, this 1966 Citroën DS 21 Majesty saloon is one of the ca. 27 meticulously handcrafted by the legendary Parisian coachbuilder, Henri Chapron. Commissioned in July 1966 by Madame Simone Fournier directly from her son-in-law, Henri Chapron, the car was delivered on 10th November 1966 and first registered in Paris on 15th November 1966, with the license plate '6535 TM 75'. The Chapron family owned this car for many years, underscoring its exceptional provenance.

This Majesty boasts an elegant blue paint finish and a stylish interior trimmed in beige leather and fabric, while the partition separating the chauffeur's compartment is both rare and particularly desirable. The car has undergone a compprehensive restoration, carried out at huge expense and with uncompromising attention to detail. It is reported that all major mechanical components have been overhauled for maximum reliability.

With only four owners since delivery and a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Madame Noëlle Chapron, this Majesty represents a unique opportunity to acquire a Chapron masterpiece with a direct connection to the renowned French coachbuilder. French registered and offered with extensive documentation, this one-of-a-kind car affords an unparalleled combination of exclusivity, design heritage and historical significance: a rare opportunity for discerning collectors of French automotive art.

- The Beaulieu Encyclopedia of the Automobile – Coachbuilding.
